PRESS RELEASE:
Nicole Boggs & The Reel are questioning everything with their sophomore album, Dystopian Book Club. Addressing everything from alcoholism to anxiety, materialism, living in the digital age and the heartbreaks in between, this band of existentialists have made a habit out of sharing uncomfortable truths. Written while re-reading classic dystopian novels, Boggs & The Reel have adapted their signature tongue-in-cheek lyricism into social commentary alongside rock n’ roll riffs and lush three-part harmonies.
Nicole Boggs & the Reel consists of Boggs (bass, lead vox,) Sam Gyllenhaal, (guitars, vox) and Alex Kramer (guitars, vox.) Each grew up in a musical family and brings different philosophies and influences to the table. They have worked with artists such as Will Hoge, Joss Stone, Delta Rae, and Trigger Hippy and have the honor of featuring world class musicians Audley Freed ( Sheryl Crow, Gavin Degraw,) Ryan Madora (Jenny Lewis, Robben Ford,) and Derico Watson ( Victor Wooten) on their recent work.
The album includes 9 songs all featuring award winning drummer, Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow, The Chicks, The Wallflowers.) The 5 singles released so far have received praise from press and airplay on Nashville’s Lightning 100 and WMOT Roots Radio. Music Mecca says, “Nicole Boggs & The Reel represent the salt of the earth and everyday people just trying to get by despite seemingly daily catastrophes.” Underground Music Collective says, “Boggs’ hypnotic delivery gives us pause to wonder if we have any true autonomy – or if we’re already bought and sold, courtesy of corporate interests.”
The band will be hosting an album release show August 31st at gorgeous Nashville music venue, Analog at the Hutton Hotel followed by a 14 date US tour. This album is for anyone searching for identity and meaning in a turbulent time. Dystopian Book Club is coming to speakers near you on August 1st, 2022
